Around the Community

  • The City of Medicine Hat has an online events calendar, a great resource for activity suggestions.
  • Attend a Downtown Art Walk
  • Check out a local greenhouse; try The Windmill Garden Centre or Blondie’s
  • Check out the Tourism Medicine Hat website for additional community ideas like Market In the Park, the Downtown Chili Cook Off, and the Farmer’s Markets
  • Attend a board game night hosted by Medicine Hat Board Game Guy!
  • Go to the Medicine Hat Public Library for various programs and events such as movies every Saturday afternoon, teen nights, and book clubs!
    • DID YOU KNOW: You can use your library card to borrow a Community Access Pass to the Big Marble Go Centre, Esplanade, Medalta, and the Downtown YMCA?! You can also borrow a Human Book to learn something new!

Sports & Activities

  • Go swimming at the Big Marble Go Centre
  • Cheer on a local sports team such as the Rattlers, the Mavericks, or the Tigers!
  • Play basketball, tennis, or pickleball at one of the various playing courts around the city
  • Throw or kick a ball around at one of Medicine Hat’s many parks
  • Watch the stock cars or drag racing

Outdoor Activities

  • Go for a walk along the river or go hiking in Elkwater or Redcliff
  • Try floating down the river for a day
  • Plant flowers

  • Attend a paint night with Christy Vince, also known as Paintergirl!
  • Create a scrapbook of things you have done together

  • Attend a free sketch night at Cafe Verve
  • Paint rocks and hide them around the city; check out Medicine Hat Rocks!
  • Visit Michaels arts and crafts store: Kids craft classes are held on Saturdays from 10am-noon. Cost $2; double-check flyer/store for upcoming dates

  • Build a kite and try to fly it

  • Have a “show and tell”0 each of you brings something special or important to you from home (or take a picture of it) and discuss its importance to you
