GROUP PROGRAM COORDINATOR
SUMMER STUDENT POSITION
Hours: 35 Hours/ week (schedule is flexible Monday-Friday) Rate of Pay: $15.00/ hr
Start Date: Flexible
Term Position: Approximately 10 weeks
This position is funded through Canada Summer Jobs. To be eligible to participate in the CSJ Initiative, individuals must:
- Have been registered as a full-time Student in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full–time basis in the next academic year,
- Be under 30 years of age.
- Must have previous experience working with groups of children.
- Must have inclusive mindset to the diversity and equality within our groups.
This positon will provide work experience to a student working towards a Social Work BSW or RSW, Education Career, Social or Human Services, Child and Youth Work, Family Studies, or related studies, and will provide the student with direct case work and business administration experience in a non-profit setting.
Roles and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will Group Programs to children ages 6- to 16yrs, in accordance with the National Standards set out by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada. He/She will assist permanent staff with matching volunteer mentors with children and youth, within the groups, will research and develop activities for each group, that are age appropriate, that are both fun and engaging. Will monitor those matches to ensure the healthy development of relationships.
